The Top 10 Honeymoon Resorts

07.13.10

Are you looking to choose the perfect location for your honeymoon? With all the wonderful sounding options available, from Hawaii to the Caribbean to the South Pacific, it can be difficult to settle on one region, let alone one resort or hotel. How do you even begin to choose? It can be overwhelming.
In order to help you narrow down your options, I have compiled this list of the very best honeymoon resorts anywhere. These are resorts with top-notch service, incredible facilities, and some of the most incredibly romantic locations imaginable. Any one of these romantic hotels would provide you with an unforgettable honeymoon experience.
So let’s jump right in to my picks for the top 10 honeymoon resorts worldwide.
10. Tahiti Inter-Continental Resort & Spa,
Formerly the legendary Beachcomber Hotel, this is known as the best hotel in all of Tahiti. Located on an incredibly beautiful and romantic lagoon, the best rooms are overwater bungalows.
9. Anse Chastanet, St. Lucia
Anse Chastanet is a small, unique resort set in one of the most incredibly beautiful locations anywhere, and perhaps the most romantic spot on St. Lucia. Overlooking the calm, turquoise waters and the famed Piton Mountains, this hotel, with its West Indian architecture and amazing location is a wonderful spot for a honeymoon.
8. Galley Bay, Antigua
This is actually an all-inclusive resort — but don’t think long buffet lines and hordes of tourists. Galley Bay is small, quaint, and incredibly intimate. The service is great, the staff wonderful, and it’s beachfront location is absolutely gorgeous.
7. Princeville Hotel, Kauai, Hawaii
Set on breathtaking Hanalei Bay, the Princeville Hotel is truly naturally blessed. I really can’t think of a more beautiful location for a hotel. The golf is incredible, and the island of Kauai is the most laid back and romantic of the Hawaiian isles. Princesville’s world-class service and dining ensure your honeymoon here will be truly memorable.
6. Hotel Villa Del Sol, Zihuatanejo, Mexico
If you are looking for luxury accommodations in an out-of-the-way place, look no further. The Hotel Villa Del Sol is a small, excellent hotel set on the perfect bay in a wonderful, artsy little town. I really love this hotel – it has great service and beautiful facilities. It’s also close to the art galleries, shops, and restaurants of Zihuatanejo. A world away from Cabo or Cancun, Zihuatanejo has a unique, authentic flavor all its own.
5. Little Dix Bay, St. John, B.V.I.
The best place to stay in the wonderful British Virgin Islands (unless you have the cash the rent out Sir Richard Branson’s private island), Little Dix has everything you’d want in a perfect romantic resort – great service, stunning beaches, and that laid-back ambience that makes for the best honeymoons.
4. Four Seasons Hualalai, Big Island of Hawaii
Possibly the perfect resort for honeymooners that love golf (and even those who don’t), this Four Seasons hotel has an amazing location, world class golf courses, and, of course, the level of impeccable service you’d expect from a Four Seasons property. The Four Seasons Hualalai might well be the best hotel in all of Hawaii.
3. Las Ventanas al Paraiso, Cabo San Lucas, Mexico
This place is simply elegant. Set in one of the most beautiful locations in all of Cabo, Las Ventanas has world-class service, dining, and accommodations. It’s the kind of place where you are likely to rub elbows with celebrities, and the level of service is bound to make you feel like a movie star yourself.
2 Caneel Bay, St. John, U.S. Virgin Islands
Located in perhaps the most beautiful spot in the Caribbean, Caneel Bay is my version of paradise. The waters here are the most stunningly beautiful anywhere in the world, and the hotel itself is amazing too. Surrounded by a U.S. national Park, Caneel Bay has an out-of-the-way feel, yet it is a ferry ride away from the excitement of St. Thomas. Caneel Bay really has the best of both worlds. It’s a wonderfully romantic resort and the perfect place for a honeymoon.
1. Four Seasons Punta Mita, Puerto Vallarta, Mexico
This resort tops my list due to its excellent service — perhaps the best anywhere. The location is amazing, the grounds are impeccable, the dining is world-class, the beach is great, and the views are beyond description. But it is the service that truly makes this hotel my choice for #1 romantic resort. Here, the wonderful staff will cater to your every need and ensure that you have the most amazing, memorable, and romantic honeymoon of all.

Seychelles – Ideal for Honeymooners

06.17.10

The wedding ceremony was lovely; even drunken Aunt Edna managed to contain her ‘boisterous mood’. After the last minute rushes, the lavish, but oh so tiring reception, the time has come for the bride and groom to pay a fond farewell to their guests and newly acquired in-laws, and head for their honeymoon. A honeymoon obviously means tranquility, pampering and of course no in-laws around to put a damper on things!

There is no better place than Labriz Silhouette to achieve such a goal; of course there are no chances of anyone dropping in un-announced on such a lusciously green island delicately fringed with pristine white beaches.

To begin this ethereal honeymooning experience, the local airline –Air Seychelles- will drop you off at Point Larue on the man island of Mahe. The sights, sounds and smell of clean unpolluted air are all but a taster to the joys awaiting you at the Labriz Silhouette resort. This is the island of Silhouette and you can get there by helicopter from Seychelles International Airport in Mahe in just 15 minutes.

The newly-built resort boasts of all the luxuries that will make you forget all about the stress of the city. You have a spa, tailored to fulfill all your heart’s desires and bound to leave you feeling refreshed, reinvigorated and ready to face all the joys and challenges of married life.

Silhouette being the third largest island in the Seychelles archipelago, is also the birthplace of many an island myth. One can easily imagine fairies and other such fantastic creatures living quietly there. In fact, all you have to do is ask one of the islanders, and you will receive an account of such mythical stories, that will surpass the most fertile imagination.

A honeymoon is a time of forgetting all about the outside world and concentrating on the person you have chosen to spend the rest of your life with. A better setting than Silhouette is pretty hard to come by. You can stroll on the virgin white beaches to your heart’s content all the while discovering new things about your soul mate you have been unable to hear due to the loud city noises. This entire discovery is taking place to a soundtrack of waves gently crashing on a beach of your choice, with the occasional bird singing a soft melodious song in harmony with its surroundings.

The Seychellois -already known for their discretion- are even more understanding of a couple wishing to shut out the world and get immersed in each other. The staff at Labriz will let you enjoy your meals there in the strictest privacy, with refills being given as if by magic. However, all the discretion is accompanied by a warm, friendly smile –which is also the locals’ trademark.

One thing is certain, a honeymoon in the Seychelles delivers all the promises of breathtaking sunsets, deserted beaches and all the tranquility which newlyweds enjoy and look forward to from the moment they set foot in the country. Given the fact that a honeymoon is one event in a lifetime, why not spend it in the land created by higher beings exactly for that one perfect and unforgettable honeymoon.

Kauai Honeymoon Vacations

05.17.10

Kauai, which is one of Hawaii’s oldest and westernmost islands,
is the ideal example of true paradise. Approximately circular in
shape, Kauai is 550 square miles in area and 32 miles in
diameter. Fringed by swaying palms, Kauai is decorated with
streams of flowers with a landscape that is full of great inland
mountains, making it the ideal getaway for newlyweds. Apart from
that, this island makes a worthwhile and pleasurable destination
through the existence of the famous Kauai honeymoon resorts.
Resorts in Kauai such as the Grand Hyatt Kauai Resorts and Spa,
Hanalei Bay Resort, Radisson Kauai Beach Resort, Sheraton Kauai
Resort and the Princeville Resort – Sheraton Luxury Collection,
offers you facilities for fun, romance and comfort.

One of the famous Kauai honeymoon locations is Poipu Beach, one
of the best developed beaches on the island. Apart from that,
there are the calm and peaceful Princeville and Lihue towns,
which are worth a day’s tour. The town Lihue holds most of the
island’s population in Coconut Coast, one of the most popular
resort centers, and also Wailua, Hawaii’s only navigable river.
In fact, one of the most favored activities is the boat trips
from Wailua to Fern Grotto. If you have a budget for a
helicopter tour, you can observe the island’s most beautiful
scenery from the air and also soar high above some areas of the
island which are not accessible by car.

You will find that most resorts offer seven-day Kauai honeymoon
packages, which also includes full facilities provided by the
resort. Some of these enjoyable and relaxing facilities would be
the interconnecting pools and lagoons, the vast variety of
restaurants and lounges, extensive water sports centers, golf
courses, tennis courts, large gardens and open air courtyards,
horseback riding, fitness centers as well as full service health
spas.

A typical Kauai honeymoon package includes the traditional
welcoming gesture to visitors with a flower lei greeting,
airport transfer and hotel baggage handling, as well as luxury
accommodations that are fit for royalty. For instance, Kiahuna
Plantation (Outrigger) Condominium of Poipu Beach offers the
fifth night free for honeymooners for stays of 5 or more days.
On the other hand, the Hyatt Regency Kauai Resort and Spa offers
the sixth night free for stays of 6 or more days.

In this exotic destination, nothing is too far away to visit as
touring the whole island can be easily completed with a two hour
car ride. All in all, Kauai honeymoons are about escaping the
bustling and hectic city environment and enjoying each other’s
company along the pristine beaches and within the tropical
gardens of Kauai. During your stay beach activities such as
snorkeling, swimming, sunbathing, scuba diving and sunset
watching should not be missed.

Finally, your Kauai honeymoon would be incomplete without
sinking your teeth into the succulent fresh seafood for which
Kauai is popular for. Apart from that, a visit to the
breathtaking cliffs and valleys of the Na Pali coast, which is a
popular filming location, should not be missed. These cliff
formations with its panoramic views have been seen in
blockbuster movies such as South Pacific, Blue Hawaii, and
Jurassic Park. Taking in the breathtaking view of this scenic
location is already worth your trip and time to this romantic
Hawaiian Garden Island.

The Romance of a Jamaica Honeymoon

04.17.10

If you are trying to decide where to go for your post wedding trip a honeymoon in Jamaica is one of the best places to choose for those days of romance and bliss. Jamaica, an island nation in the Caribbean Sea known for its scenery and amazing weather is one of the most gorgeous and romantic tropical honeymoon spots in the world. Going off to secluded lagoons, lying on pristine white beaches, watching the coconut fronds wave in the breeze are just some moments unique to a Jamaica honeymoon.

Jamaica has everything a newlywed couple needs to start their life together; steel drums, clear blue Caribbean waters, soft breezes, warm sand, and a slow island pace. It is lush, mountainous and offers plenty of adventure and honeymoon hideaways where any couple can spend intimate moments away from it all.

There is no lack of adventure to be found on this beautiful island, even if it is nothing more then spending time doing nothing together. While the tropical beaches and warm tropical waters are the main draw there is more to this island paradise then that. Ghostly Grotto Lake, which is underground and only accessible by boat, is a favorite spot amongst the honeymoon set. For the more adventurous there is cliff jumping into pools of warm water or the opportunity to swim through underwater caves.

For the couple that is more interested in the night life and enjoying the sight and sounds of a city then Montego Bay is the place. It is a large resort city with a nightlife that just never quits. You can be on the beach with a cold drink in your hand in less then an hour after getting off the plane if you choose to stay in this vibrant tropical city.

If you are looking for a more relaxed atmosphere then check into the resorts around the Negril area of the island. Negril is a laid back resort town with some of the most beautiful sunsets to be found. This sleepy tropical town also has a good nightlife and shopping to keep even the most avid of shoppers happy.

Unquestionably, on you Jamaica honeymoon you and your new spouse will have a lifetime experience because a trip to this tropical island is loaded with all kinds of pleasant surprises. A honeymoon in Jamaica will allow you to enjoy each other in a beautiful setting as your life together begins.

The Best All Inclusive Honeymoon Package In Belize Is Coco Plum Island

03.01.10

Coco Plum Island is a 16 acre cay, and is situated just 8 miles off the coast of Belize.

We were planning our honeymoon, and we both love ‘bare feet and casual’ and we found Coco Plum by accident when we were researching for a Caribbean Vacation, which then extended to Belize, and then the idea for a Belize Island Honeymoon came about.

We felt an all inclusive Belize honeymoon package would be our choice, a bit more research and the decision was made, and we have never regretted it.

We flew into Belize City from Newark, changed planes and flew to Dangriga, where we were met by one of the staff from Coco Plum, from their to the boat dock, and then 15 -20 minutes by small boat to the island. In fact from the moment we were picked up in the Coco Plum ‘van’ we realised this was going to be special. It’s weird how sometimes you just get that great feeling really quickly.

When we reached the island it was straight to the bar, whilst our bags were sorted. Looking around we realised how beautiful it was, sitting in the thatch roofed bar looking out over a crystal clear turquoise/blue sea.

Our Cabana was very comfortable, and we really felt the staff had only one concern, and that was our well being. There is an impression that there is no electricity, and in fact the island generates all its own power, and produces its own water. This is not 24 hour service, shopping mall, duplex five star comfort, but we felt that everyone on the island were kind of ‘no shoes’ laid back like us.

Overall we had a great time, the food was absolutely delicious, something very important to me. The beach lovely, the water warm, and crystal clear. We don’t scuba, but we do snorkel, and we were taken to some lovely places where the fish were just amazing.

We read a lot, and even went on an expedition into the interior of Belize, to the Mayan ruins tour, a must see. We couldn’t go home and say we hadn’t been and done anything!!

I will however especially remember the beauty of Coco Plum Island, the friendliness of the staff, and the effort they put in to make our stay memorable. The three great meals every day, and the people who we met who felt like we did.

This is just the best possible Belize honeymoon package we could have wished for.

Mauritius Exotic Honeymoon Beaches

02.05.10

Mauritius is a tropical paradise and one of the most beautiful places for a romantic honeymoon.

Mauritius enjoys an extensively varied culture, due to its multifaceted history. It’s greatly influenced by its British and French ties and principally Indian workforce. The result is a mix of assorted cultures, religions, and languages. The variety is also evident in the food, which is a mix of Indian, Creole, Chinese, and European.

Mauritius is the ultimate honeymoon destination with amazing beaches, great food, world class spas and excellent honeymoon spots.

Exotic Beaches

The Island of Mauritius has warm turquoise waters with pristine white sandy beaches, gently swaying palms and aromatic blossoms. It is an ideal destination for a wedding or honeymoon.

Pereybere

Pereybere is situated on the coastal road between Grand Baie and Cap Malheureux. Pereybere offers deep and clear blue waters. It is definitely the most popular among young people, with some of the best beach action around.

Grand Baie

Grand Baie is probably the most popular beach on the island,. It is a safe place for swimming, sailing, windsurfing, and water skiing. Only 20 kilometers away from Port-Louis, Grand Baie has a host of clothing and craft shops, restaurants and trendy night clubs. From Grand Baie, one can catch a helicopter for an excursion along the coast, or get onto a boat for a trip into the deep seas to Coin de Mire, Ile Plate and Ile Ronde.

Cap Malheureux

Cap Malheureux is a small fishing village located on the furthest north tip of Mauritius. Cap Malheureux offers a magnificent view of some of the small islands off the coast. Among others, Ile Plate, famous for its lighthouse; Ile Ronde, inhabited only by palm trees, harmless boas and indigenous lizards; Ile aux Serpents, which, despite its name, is not infested with snakes; and Coin de Mire, an enormous rock of historical importance, since it was from there that the English secretly embarked on September 2, 1810 to win over the island from the French

Mont Choisy

Mont Choisy is situated on the northern coastline, and is one of the best beaches around. Locals enjoy spending the weekend there, relaxing in the sun, enjoying the sea and playing soccer on an adjacent field. The entrance to the beach is guarded by a monument, commemorating the first airlink between Mauritius and Reunion Island on September 10, 1933, undertaken by a Frenchman by the name of Sutel, and a Mauritian, Jean Hily. The latter unfortunately lost his life on the second attempt held on October 4, 1934.

Trou-Aux-Biches

Nestled between Mont Choisy and Pointe-aux-Piments, is a short stretch of public beach l. Trou-aux-Biches is a cozy white sandy beach, with blue waters and lazy filao trees to match. Trou-aux-Biches is also minutes away from The Aquarium, where you can acquaint yourself with the Mauritian marine life. The splendid Hindu Temple across from Trou aux Biches stands in sweet contrast to the heavenly emerald-green waters and white sandy beach background.

Flic-en-Flac

The name Flic en Flac is thought to come from the old Dutch name, ‘Fried Landt Flaak’, or ‘Free and Flat Land’. Flic en Flac, off the Port Louis-Tamarin road, lies at the bottom of a 3Km straight road running through cane fields. It is not as cute and carefree as its name suggests. Rather, it is an increasingly busy holiday village that lies and relies on a great stretch of beach, and caters for the middle range in the market rather than the budget level, which prefers Tamarin.

Tamarin

This is the surfing centre of Mauritius, although you can go for weeks without seeing a surfer. The character of the place is more laid-back than Flic en Flac and rougher around the edges. It has a good beach and is well situated for most of the other sights. Salt evaporation ponds encircle the village. Tamarin Bay Beach – This is a small public beach with good views across the river estuary to Montage du Rempart.

Blue Bay

Blue Bay is the official public beach closest to Mahebourg.

Ile Aux Cerfs

Ile Aux Cerfs a small island off the east coast, is the next best thing after paradise. The island features vast beaches fringed with palm trees, and clear waters. There is no need to leave this paradise island since it has all you need, including restaurants and water sports facilities. Restaurants and other services are housed in small exotic kiosks, with straw roofs. Tourists can access IIe aux Cerfs by getting onto one of the small boats at Pointe Maurice. Close to Ile aux Cerfs is the beautiful but lesser known Ile de l’Est. A short distance from Ile aux Cerfs is Le Touessrok, one of the oldest five-star hotels on the island.
